On the afternoon of 24th February, 2017, the first Project Steering Committee (PSC) “Promoting the energy efficient industrial boilers, adoption and operating practices in Vietnam” was organized at HQ of Hanoi General Energy Department. Main purposes of the meeting as below:
- Reporting Project implementation progress from November 2015 to December 2016;
- Obtaining feedbacks from PSC members about 2017 Project Working plan;
- Review / comments for the project implementation progress by PSC members in the past time.
There are 13 PSC members from related ministry/department who participated in the meeting such as: MOIT, MONRE, MOLISA, MOST; ECCs (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh and Da Nang) and representative from United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Vietnam and HQ.
According to Mr. Trinh Quoc Vu, Deputy Head of PSC, till the end of 2016, the project has been implemented for over a year. With the efforts of the Project Management Unit (PMU) and the closely guidance of the General Department of Energy and UNIDO, many prioritized activities are prerequisites to ensure the project progress in the following years has been implemented in the first year, such as:
- Review policy framework and regulations on performance and technical requirements for the design, construction, fabrication, installation, use and repair of boilers.
- Develop a national communication strategy for improving industrial boiler efficiency;
- Implement promotion and communication activities on energy efficient boiler;
- Implement training program on boiler energy efficiency assessment technique and energy efficient boiler operational practice;
- Select pilot enterprise to demonstrate energy efficient boiler operation practice.
After the presentation of project implementation progress and 2017 working plan by PMU, PSC members gave numerous evaluates and comments for every aspects of the Project issues.
In summarize, PSC members conclude the Project has been implemented in the right direction and they also recommended activities which need to be accelerated in 2017, details as below:
- Communication
- Training on boiler manufacturing practices
- Creating a database system
- Producing the project promotion documents, leaflets and send them to EECs for distributing in their workshops.
- Organizing soon a training course on how to develop a business and marking plan with the participation of consulting centres.
- The project should invite boilers manufacturers to take part in the activities of the project and partners as a way to access clients.
- Formulation of boiler standards.
